Salmon Sisters is an Alaska-based brand started by Emma and Claire. Having worked on commercial fishing boats for years, they eventually launched their own business providing a wide range of amazing products: boots, apparel, accessories, Wild Alaska Seafood, cookbooks, and more!
When Salmon Sisters reached out to us for custom NoSo Patches, we were overjoyed. We love working with amazing female-led brands—and we share Salmon Sisters’ commitment to wild places, stewardship, sustainability, and product quality.
Here’s a short Q&A highlighting why Salmon Sisters decided to work with NoSo on custom repair patches.
How did you learn about NoSo’s custom patches?
We have been working with Skida on product collaborations over the years and learned about NoSo through the patches they made with you.
What do you appreciate most about NoSo?
We love the idea of being able to fix up our most-loved gear.
In Alaska, we wear our puffy jackets hard and NoSo patches were the first fun, attractive, innovative solution we’ve found for keeping feathers in and repairing rips and holes in our outerwear. We also love that these patches can be used to express yourself and dress up your gear!
How does Noso’s mission of “patching the planet” align with Salmon Sisters’ mission?
At Salmon Sisters, we offer quality, functional products that help people work and play in the outdoors. A lot of our gear is designed specifically for commercial fishermen, who work long days out in the elements. We love carrying NoSo Patches alongside our fishing gear because it allows a longer lifetime for those functional pieces. It’s fun to offer fishermen an alternative to the Duct Tape that normally fixes rips and tears in Alaska.
What were you aiming for with your custom NoSo Patches? How will they be used?
We want to give our community fun ways to keep wearing their Salmon Sisters gear and getting outside throughout the seasons in Alaska! We took some of our favorite Salmon Sisters designs and turned them into NoSo patches, so they can be added to any garment for more adventures in good gear through the seasons. Most Alaskans will probably use them on their outerwear.
